DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Lafayette

We didn’t end up staying because the room wasn’t the size I needed for a temporary home for a few days. It looked great, though, and the staff’s service is what let us see that for ourselves. They let us view it to check whether our 17 pieces of luggage would fit. The location is convenient, between places to eat if you don’t want the hotel restaurant, the airport, and the main town. The front desk staff were friendly and really helpful in making sure we found a place that suited us. I appreciated their effort.

The room was cool and the beds were comfortable. I checked in through the app, then just showed my DL at arrival to get a physical key for my husband. The front desk staff were very nice, and checkout was easy. The on-site restaurant had good food and drinks, nicely seasoned without being overdone. We didn’t realize until we got back that the room had a mini fridge and microwave. There’s a mini fridge in the spot I swore to my husband was just dresser drawers, so now we know for next time. Thanks, DBL Tree. When we returned to the room, my husband noticed the top was off my perfume. Lol, I don’t mind housekeeping wanting to see how it smells, just put the top back on. And this Pepsi can was still in the same spot the whole stay, which made me laugh. 😄😄 I enjoyed my birthday.

The staff and service here are hard to beat. They make you comfortable, and the food is the kind you photograph and remember because you tried something new and liked it. I travel all 50 states and stay at Hiltons and other hotels constantly, and this place is top notch. I bought frozen meats you can’t get anywhere else but south Louisiana, including sausage and boudin, and then realized I didn’t have freezer space for all my goodies. It was my own problem, but the front desk helped right away. They pulled out an already printed “customer Freezer inventory sheet.” They have a whole system for keeping your food frozen until checkout. Our company also rented one of their conference rooms for a day. The staff were helpful and prompt, and they showed real honesty too. I left my $400 iPad and didn’t realize it was gone until 3 & 1/2 days later. I figured it was gone, but they had found it and done the right thing. When I called, Brianna stopped what she was doing to check lost and found, then called as soon as she had confirmation. They’re mailing my iPad to me. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. The staff were wonderful when we arrived very late, and one of them helped me get the television working in my room. The facilities, though, need to be rebuilt. The rooms are dated and dirty, the carpet was wet, and one of my colleague’s beds was wet. I just didn’t feel comfortable or clean there. Our company has a contract here, and we’ve complained several times about mold and mildew in the bathrooms and bedbugs in some rooms. Please tear this place down and rebuild. Horrible.
