Laguna Surf Lodge by SCP Hotels

The property is incredible, with great views, a peaceful feel in the lounge areas, and easy access to the beach. Our room had a diffuser running and calm music playing when we walked in, which set a lovely tone for the trip. Everything was clean. We stayed for our wedding weekend, and the team made it so memorable. Jimmy, the GM, was incredibly helpful and accommodating, so much so that we asked him to sign our wedding guest book. Gabe, Kyle, and the rest of the crew also went above and beyond, from leading 8am cold plunges in the ocean to helping hand out gift bags as guests arrived. Whenever we needed anything, at any hour, they handled our requests with grace. We really can’t thank them enough, and we’re already looking forward to coming back next year for our yearly vacation spot.

We’ll be back, as much as possible. I could keep gushing, but I’d like this place to be available every time we visit. If you want an intimate, easygoing stay right by the ocean with a beachy feel, this is the place. Our room looked straight out over the Pacific, and the balcony was perfect for sunrise coffee or sunset cocktails. Oceanfront doesn’t always mean you’re actually facing the ocean, but it really does here. The room was bright and airy, with comfortable premium bedding, fresh finishes, and a clean, modern feel that still had classic beach character. We love Laguna Beach, but spent so much time in the room that we didn’t feel bad about missing out on what LB has to offer. The staff made a warm first impression when we checked in, and the friendliness felt real, not rehearsed. Tyson was thoughtful, helpful, and caring. Gabe and Ryan at valet were always smiling, ready to get our car or suggest somewhere to go. The whole place feels relaxed, personal, and nicely put together. We’re booking again for next year right away.

We liked the quieter neighborhood, which was still walkable to downtown and plenty of good restaurants. Each morning there was complimentary coffee in the lobby, and with the doors open at night, falling asleep to the ocean was so peaceful. We also walked down the nearby path to watch surfers, a classic Laguna experience. The rooms don’t have TVs, but there’s a communal hot tub that was great after days out exploring. Our final stop in Laguna Beach got off to a disappointing start at another hotel down the street, where the service and hospitality left us feeling let down. Then we found Laguna Surf Lodge, right on the ocean, and things changed. Alex welcomed us with a genuine smile, showed us the rooms, and arranged an early check-in. We got a room with a floating king bed and sweeping Pacific views. It rained for much of our stay, otherwise we would have spent hours out on the balcony enjoying them. We loved the thoughtful simplicity of the place. It was charming, relaxed, and genuinely hospitable, a perfect way to end our trip. We’d return in a heartbeat.

It’s a lovely, clean little place with friendly staff and easy access to North Laguna Beach. There are plenty of amenities a short walk away, and downtown is a trolley ride away. You can get down to the beach by a private path, with chairs and towels provided. The outdoor spaces are sunny and have amazing views over the surf. A special thanks to Jose, who single-handedly got our trunk full of luggage to the room while we checked in and looked after a sleeping child.
