The Wisconsin Hotel & Conference Center

The staff were lovely, and our room was roomy with a really comfortable bed and excellent shower pressure. It’s only a few minutes from The Dells, with plenty to see nearby and some places within walking distance. I expected the hotel to be kitschy, but it’s actually very well done. The public areas are fun to explore, with historic Wisconsin photos, several little library spaces full of interesting books, and Chris Farley humor. We liked the outdoor areas too, especially the silo bar. During Wisconsin State Day there was live music, nice free gifts for guests, bourbon tastings, complimentary craft cocktails, a little petting zoo from the local Future Farmers, hors d'oeuvres, and more. We didn’t eat at the restaurant, so I can’t comment on it.

The pool was quiet even over the weekend, so the kids got to enjoy it without a crowd. The only drawback for us was that the mattresses felt a bit too firm, but we had a great stay. The hotel was spotless and looked freshly remodeled, with almost everything seeming brand new. The restaurant cost a little more, though the food and service were so good that it felt worth it.

The staff really went out of their way for us. My son needed batteries for his VR headset, and the front desk gave us a pair at no charge. They also brought up luggage racks and let us check out late. The rooms are nice and fairly priced. A solid place to stay in the Dells when you want a breather from the water park commotion.

The silo bar was like something from a movie, set in a sphere up above town, about 70 feet high. The espresso martinis were fabulous and the food was great, so we ended up spending more time at the property than we’d planned. We were in the Dells for a family gathering and had heard this was the “new spot” to stay. The rumors were right. The location is hard to beat, and I’d highly recommend it.
