Bird's Nest Resort

Ed from Birds nest went out of his way to make our anniversary getaway feel special. My wife and I came up for our 32nd anniversary, and the peaceful setting was a welcome break from all the craziness. The rooms, service, and location just off the ferry were perfect. Thanks so much to everyone.

We picked this place for the dog friendly cabins and stayed in the three bedroom one with my in-laws and our two dogs. There was plenty of green space for them, and the dog park was only a half mile walk away. Nights were very quiet, and the office staff were friendly. Linens were provided, which is handy on the island, and it was clear they work to keep the place in decent shape. We didn’t try the pool, though it looked clean. The cabin had one and a half bathrooms, window AC units in each bedroom and the living room, and a standard refrigerator plus a mini fridge and deep freeze. There was also an oven, microwave, and a few basic pots and pans. Four-seat golf carts were available to rent at a reasonable price, though they were slower than some others on the island. The main problems were the bathroom doors. They didn’t lock, and one was very hard to close. Nobody wants their in-laws walking in by surprise. The entry stairs were quite worn and hard for our parents to see, and they actually stumbled on them.

The king room had a shower and tub together, plus plenty of bathroom drawers and storage. We had to book at least two nights, and there were a few room types to choose from. The place is tucked away near the airport and Miller's Ferry end of Put-In-Bay, so it was quiet and clean, with an outdoor pool. The check-in office had coffee, a small general store open during business hours, and carts for rent. Cart prices were higher than at other places, but it was convenient to rent one with a room. For a weekend island visit, this was a nice quiet break from the usual crowds. I’ll be back in future summers. The staff were so friendly, and I hope I can come back soon. Put-in-Bay’s location here is great if you want some peace away from the noise, crowds, and restaurants. I’d definitely recommend this resort for a quiet stay.
