The room was tiny and underwhelming, with no microwave, and the AC didn’t work. I was especially disappointed with how things went around our wedding night. I’d called weeks beforehand because we wouldn’t be back until late and wanted to know if a late checkout could be guaranteed. I understood they might not be able to do it, but a very nice manager said we could stay until 12pm at no charge and would add a note to my file. Based on that, I booked the $518 room. When we arrived after the wedding, the front desk said there was no note and asked me to prove what I’d been told. I said I could get my phone and check for a voicemail I thought the manager had left the next day. He then said he’d look into it and let me know if late checkout was possible. I was frustrated, since I’d called ahead and wouldn’t have booked if I couldn’t stay late. Another manager eventually found the note hiding in the file. The key they gave me also didn’t work, so at 10 pm I got locked out without my phone and had to walk all the way around the building while strange drunk men cat-called me. Terrible service for a place calling itself a luxury resort and charging this much. I’m really disappointed I chose to spend my wedding night there.

The wedding was spectacular, and the food and service were amazing. We stayed overnight, and while the room was quite pricey, the amenities were very nice. The only problem was housekeeping knocking at 9:00 a.m. on the morning we were leaving. We were allowed to stay until 11:00am, so I asked them to go away and come back later. I’d love to visit again sometime soon.

The flowers were breathtaking, with so many roses that we brought a large portion home. Now we have two vases that remind us of that unforgettable night. My fiancée and I planned our engagement at Grand Geneva Resort, choosing the Lakeside engagement on a Sunday evening during the fireworks. The setup was stunning, and my bride-to-be was completely surprised and in awe. Courtney McMillion coordinated the event and vendors, including CMAE Photography of Lake Geneva. From when I began planning about six weeks earlier through the big day, Courtney was professional, responsive, organized, and made everything stress-free. She handled every detail beautifully. Grand Geneva made the whole experience magical, and we’re grateful. I highly recommend the resort, especially Courtney McMillion, for a proposal, engagement, wedding, or special event.

Dinner at Geneva Chophouse was a highlight, with wonderful food, service, and views. Kristi at the Grand Cafe also gave us some of my favorite service of the stay. I like coming to Lake Geneva for a weekend getaway, and the trip itself is part of the fun. The drive down Route 50 through the charming small towns is scenic, and I enjoy the local flora and fauna. The resort is in a great spot, just down the street from the heart of Lake Geneva, so it’s easy to head into town.

The pools were dirty and poorly maintained, and the locker room looked filthy, like it needed remodeling. They should at least paint the pool area and keep it presentable. For what this place charges, it ought to be better cared for. The rooms were good and up to date, and the lobby, restaurants, and golf course were great.
