Maxwell Mansion

A romantic spot where you can relax by the pool, get food from the kitchen, or have a good drink at the Apothecary bar. There’s a speakeasy too, and you can find the password on their socials. I’ll be back.

Such a peaceful, quiet place for a relaxing getaway. The atmosphere is priceless, and I had one of my best experiences here. It feels like you can lose track of time. I’ll definitely come back.

The craft cocktails are still incredible, and they were the reason we booked at Maxwell Mansion after loving the atmosphere and drinks on a summer visit. The rest of our anniversary weekend, though, fell far short of what we expected from a luxury boutique property at this price. We chose a last-minute trip close to home and upgraded to the Bridle Suite for a king bed, since the other rooms had queens. The room smelled musty. The Apple TV remote worked only if we stood right under the TV, and the steam shower worked once, then showed an error for the rest of the weekend. We also found an opened Gas-X package in the bedside drawer and an empty Zyn puck on the floor by the bed. Small things, but they made the room feel unclean. On our last day, we found ants in the bed. We told staff at checkout and completed the post-stay survey, but no one followed up or responded. We expected better attention to detail and customer care. The cocktails remain the highlight, but everything else about the overnight stay was disappointing.

The Apothecary has a sexy speakeasy feel, amazing rooms, and events, with a nice outdoor seating area and bocci. The mixed drinks are fantastic, like concoctions made by wizards. Ask about the ghosts if you want a unique venue. I took a mixology class and highly recommend it for learning about tinctures, simple syrups, and other fresh cocktail ideas.
