After this review went up on June 5, the first contact I received since May 14 was an email. Expedia still showed the booking as fully refundable, which made the situation all the more disappointing. I canceled a reservation through Expedia on May 14, less than a day after booking it on May 13 and more than a month before the stay, because of a serious medical emergency in my family. I understand that businesses set their own policies, but after weeks of trying to get the issue reviewed, I was told there would be no refund. The hardest part was the silence. I tried repeatedly to reach the property by phone and email and got no reply or callback. Expedia representatives also recorded several attempts to contact them during the review process. I found it difficult to understand why a cancellation made so soon after booking couldn’t be considered with some flexibility or compassion in those circumstances. I rarely leave a negative review, but this left me frustrated and feeling that there was little interest in finding a reasonable solution. I hope other guests never have to deal with a family emergency while also struggling to get a response from the property.

We liked this place on our first visit in early November, even though the heater in our room didn’t work. The good parts outweighed that problem, so we wanted to come back for Thanksgiving week. When the rooms we first wanted were unavailable because of maintenance, that was understandable. Pam and I spoke about checking in, and I called back to confirm a different room. I left a voicemail but never got a return call. A few hours later, the reservation was canceled because they supposedly couldn’t accommodate us, with no explanation. It’s unfortunate, since we loved the location and wanted to stay again. That’s why I’m leaving one star.

Pam at the office was so friendly and helped with every question we had during our stay. Our room looked beautiful, with modern, high quality decor and a huge rain shower head. We had a wonderful time and would definitely come back.

It’s a short trailer ride to several places where you can launch snowmobiles, and you can also ride from the overflow lot to the trails behind the VFW. The proprietors were helpful and accommodating, and the rooms were clean and a good size.

We spent a January weekend here, and the lake view was spectacular. Our room was clean, just right, and had everything we needed. The staff were really friendly and helpful, too. It made a great base for visiting several towns and attractions, and we can’t wait to stay again in another season.
