The Snowshoe Lodge

We’d happily stay at Snowshoe Lodge again. Booking through AirBnB went well, check-in was easy, and the management team sent useful information before we needed it. Our room was clean and tidy, with plenty of bathroom towels to keep us comfortable. There’s extra stock available if you need it.

It’s a cozy, inexpensive place, and everything looked nice and clean except the sheets. There was both human and dog hair on them. Since check-in is self-service, there was no one to ask for fresh sheets. It made for a very long night.

There was no front desk check-in after 4 p.m. I got an email explaining how to find my key, but the key hadn’t been left where it was supposed to be, and nobody answered the phone. I spent about 20 minutes waiting in the guest welcome room, not knowing where I’d sleep that night. Eventually someone called back, but the person was disrespectful and didn’t understand why I was frustrated. A horrible experience.

It was easy to reach management by text or phone, and we liked being able to control the heat and A/C ourselves. This cute cottage-style efficiency was spotless and had everything we needed. Check-in was fully contactless. The office is open 24/7 if you need to pick up extra towels or toiletries. Rates are very reasonable for a place within walking distance of EVERYTHING in Lake Placid, and WiFi was included. There’s plenty of room to spread out, so we’d recommend it to families.
