Palm Breeze Hotel

UPDATE: Someone from the hotel’s administrative side called today. They were very understanding about how frustrating this was, apologized sincerely, and offered us a free weekend stay. They said they’d made some staff changes and were looking for a fix for the digital locks. We appreciated the call. We stayed here on Valentine’s Day and came back from dinner to find the keypad on our room door wouldn’t work. We tried over and over, but the door stayed locked. The office was closed, and none of the numbers we called got a response. We texted and emailed too, with no reply. We even called the police, but they couldn’t help and said the situation was badly messed up. We ended up sleeping in our car until 3 a.m. The short-haired woman who checked us in, I think her name was Leslie, came back acting as if it wasn’t a big deal. She took her time looking for keys in the office downstairs, then couldn’t get our door open either. She arrived at 3 a.m. like she’d been out at an event and slipped away from work to party. When I needed the restroom, she didn’t offer the one in the office. I was upset by the lack of apology and disgusted by the whole thing. After many attempts with the door and code, she finally used her own code to get in. Why hadn’t she tried that from the start? We didn’t get to bed until 5 a.m. I’ve never had such a terrible experience. I hope the owners read this and do something, because this is bad business. I’ve also reported it to booking.com. Then it got worse. They charged the $100 security deposit that was supposed to be refundable as a regular card transaction. The phone number on the charge didn’t match the hotel’s number. When I called to dispute it, the person who answered said it wasn’t the hotel and that I had the wrong number. I had to dispute it through my bank, which needed to send me a replacement debit card. Now I have to wait seven days for it to arrive. If getting locked out of a room you paid for sounds fine to you, book here. Otherwise, I’d pay a little more for a hotel with someone on site 24/7.
