SpringHill Suites by Marriott Lakeland

The room itself was okay, though the couch was lumpy, and there was no Tesla charger. Breakfast was one of the worst I've had at a mid-priced hotel: greenish scrambled eggs that were mostly scraps, lukewarm coffee, and no make-your-own waffle station. At midnight, the front desk was empty when I arrived. I waited five minutes, then called, and a guy came out, probably from sleeping in the back. If someone is going to sleep there, they should at least put out a bell. They also didn't offer bottled water for a platinum member. This was below average for a Springhill suite. You'd think they'd do better to compete with the townplace by the freeway.

The room was really spacious, and it was handy having both a microwave and a coffee maker there. Breakfast is served every morning, and there are nearby restaurants I could walk to. The pool is outdoors and the gym is open 24 hours. Everything was in order, though I didn't care for the smell in my room, and the fridge wasn't cooling.

I came back to my room after a long day and found it hadn't been made up, which was really disappointing. I called the front desk, and he said housekeeping had to be requested, as noted on the paper with my key card. Is that standard? We're paying the same price. I understand if a guest asks staff not to enter, but I've never heard that you have to request basic things like making the bed and taking out the trash.

The staff were awesome, and so was breakfast. The room was well appointed, but there were suspicious stains on the bathroom walls and couch. Freeway noise was a problem, and the curtain didn't close enough to block the light from it.
