Lakeside Inn

We finished both evenings with a cozy fire on the main floor. During the day, the front porch was a relaxing spot, with rocking chairs and porch swings and the soothing sound of Lake Michigan. Just wonderful.

I felt right at home at this inn. Its historic charm is hard to match, and the care put into looking after the place is impeccable. A peaceful, memorable stay.

The Inn is cute, and I might return, though a few parts of my stay could have gone better. My room was ice cold when I arrived. The heater couldn’t bring it up to a comfortable temperature, though by morning warmth was coming from a furnace. There was no staff on site overnight, which I think is just how they operate. I also missed the note to order breakfast ahead, so be sure to arrange that in advance. Getting there was a whole ordeal. GPS sent me down a strange country road, and I thought maybe the freeway had closed. It was dark and lonely, then I got stuck behind a train for literally thirty minutes. I finally turned around and went back to the freeway, which was open after all, and arrived an hour later than planned.

An older hotel with the look of a pleasant resort from years past. It’s a great place to unwind and take in the view of Lake Michigan.
