Lancaster Arts Hotel

We stayed for the weekend around our wedding anniversary on February 7. The exposed brick in our nice room was a favorite. The staff were friendly, though my check-in encounter with Natalie was an exception. The drawing activity was fun, and there were lots of sketches and paintings along the hall walls, plus cool furniture. The location worked well, with plenty of shopping nearby.

Our wedding party guests came from across the US and even Portugal, and they were all happy with their stay here. The art-filled feel was a hit, especially the sketch pads in the rooms. People drew the wedding, each other, and lovely Lancaster in the Fall, and it made a fun extra party favor. We had a comfortable stay, with excellent service and accommodations throughout. The continental breakfast had a nice range of protein, bread, sweets, and fruit. The patio was a picture-perfect place for coffee and a scone early in the morning. John J. Jeffries, the attached restaurant, served great food with impeccable service, and we held our rehearsal dinner there. We spent our hard-earned money expecting a lot, and both the hotel and restaurant delivered.

Coffee in the breakfast room alone is worth heading downstairs for. The staff were warm and friendly, from the front of house to the back, and the rooms felt cozy and comfortable, almost like a cocoon. The location made it easy to enjoy an evening in town without dreading a long trip back. There’s a meadery within walking distance one way and a donut shop the other.

Really disappointing for the price. I paid over $200 a night for something that felt like a college dorm, and there are much nicer, cheaper places in Lancaster. The king rooms need a serious renovation: the carpet was filthy and old, and the shower felt so unsanitary I wanted flip flops just to use it. I honestly don't know how they get away with charging that much.
