Amy, the housekeeper, is still as kind and friendly as ever. The stay itself has gone downhill, though. We used to really like coming here, but the new owners aren't as welcoming as the previous one. The breakfast is very bare now, and the towels and washcloths have stains. It feels like a lot of corners have been cut.

We booked two nights for a wedding because the price was low, so I wasn't expecting anything fancy. I did expect a room that was looked after. The sheets were so unpleasant that I slept on top of the quilt. The toilet was gross, and the towels had black marks and felt rough, with some looking like they'd been smeared with nacho cheese dust. The next day, housekeeping collected the dirty towels, refolded them, and hung them back up instead of bringing clean ones. They did replace the sheets on one bed and clean the toilet bowl.

The room looked nice, but basic things weren't working: the electronic lock and the built-in heating and AC unit. There also wasn't housekeeping to clean or replace towels, so guests have to ask the owner or handle it themselves. The owner seems unwilling to spend money fixing most problems. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

We come to Lancaster every year for my father's high school reunion and have always stayed at the Lancaster Welcome Inn. This time the room smelled of mold, mildew, and wet dog, and there was red and black mold in the shower grout. The bed had badly worn sheets, no blanket, just a coverlet. The AC came on, but its broken temperature knob couldn't be adjusted. I asked to move, but the desk clerk said there were no other rooms. At 10:30 at night, tired from driving, we didn't feel up to leaving. I asked for Lysol and bleach to clean the shower, but he had neither and offered Glade instead. What was that supposed to do? We were so disappointed and won't stay again. Find another hotel.

It's a very historic building in a very historic town, and check-in went smoothly. My room was clean, and I left feeling rested and happy with the stay. The mini powdered doughnuts were another story, a couple nearly broke my teeth. I gave it three stars because of what I'm used to.
