Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Laredo-Event Center Area by IHG

The rooms are fair and clean enough, the staff is okay, the location is decent with restaurants nearby, and there's been construction outside for months. But checking in has become such a hassle that I'm done staying here. My company books and pays for my room at its agreed rate, yet the hotel raises the price at check-in, which can make the payment get rejected. They also ask me for a government ID, even though I'm a contractor for the government and don't have one. My company handles the reservation, so I don't understand why this isn't sorted out during booking. I've stayed at hotels across Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Florida, and this is the only IHG property where I've had this problem. There are only two IHG hotels in the area, and I chose this one for years because I didn't want my company paying the higher Staybridge rate. That hassle isn't worth it anymore, so I'll stay at Staybridge from now on. Management seems confused.

Restaurants nearby make this a great location. The one thing that bothered me was the 32-inch TV, which is a little hard to watch comfortably from bed.

My husband had a good stay here before, and my parents enjoyed their week at the hotel too. Their room was a decent size, clean, and everything worked, including the fridge, Keurig, and AC. Ernesto was AMAZING at helping me find a ground-floor room for them, and the front desk staff kept being helpful and pleasant throughout their stay. There's upgrade work going on, but it wasn't loud or in the way. The staff really made my parents comfortable, and I'm very thankful. Highly recommend!

The staff were awesome, and the room was clean and comfortable. The elevator, though, was unbelievably loud. Since everyone has to use it, it kept sounding like someone was slamming a door. At the rate you pay, you'd hope for some peace and quiet. I'd ask for a room as far from the elevator as possible.
