For a small, low-rent town, this is a really nice place. The lobby has a Starbucks, and the rooms come with a Kuerig, mini fridge, and microwave. It’s very clean and updated, and the lounge bar area is a real highlight, with private booths, a fire pit, and a really nice patio. The happy hour and breakfast are above average and nicely done for a lobby bar, though it isn’t a full restaurant and they aren’t free. I know this isn’t a five-star hotel, but it’s a five-star Marriot Courtyard.

We’ve stayed here at least six times while visiting family, and we’ll definitely be back. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the lobby is too. The location works really well for us, and there’s a nice gym. The staff have been extremely accommodating. Once, even our third-party booking reservation hadn’t gone through correctly, and they helped us with it. It does usually cost a little more than similar hotels we sometimes use in town, especially since breakfast isn’t included, but we keep choosing it.

We came after visiting White Sands and picked this college town based on people’s recommendations. The rooms were clean, parking was sufficient, and the room had a refrigerator, microwave, and even a bidet. Our first room was on the ground floor, although I’d asked for a higher level. Its sliding window opened toward the front of the building and had no lock. As two women traveling together, we didn’t feel safe with that. There were no blackout curtains, and some of the lights didn’t work either. Staff responded quickly and moved us to a higher floor, but I wish they’d honored the request from the start.

The lobby and back hangout area are really cute, with booths and a strange but cool tall, round swivel chair. The room decor was interesting too, though the bathroom looked like it belonged to a completely different style. We didn’t hear our neighbors, but you can hear nearly every footstep from people moving around in the hall. The location is convenient, but oddly placed, with dirt lots and stuff on two sides that look a little trashy. I’m guessing things will be built behind it and to the side later. Parking was okay, though there could be more. We saw one electric car charger at the back. One cord was in use the whole two days we were there, so keep that in mind if you need it, and be kind. If you’re charged, maybe park elsewhere so others can use it. The room was all right as long as you didn’t look too closely. There were stains on the walls, shower curtain, and shower wall. The areas around the ceiling light and detectors weren’t sealed properly, and the gaps were obvious and looked easy to fix. The shower pressure was nice, and the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were some of my favorites from a hotel. I’m actually looking for them to buy for home. But be very careful in the shower. The floor is smooth and extremely slippery, and all three of us nearly fell a few times. Maybe sit on the tub edge once you’re dry and dressed, then wash your feet. The toilet paper holder is the worst I’ve encountered, just a small straight bar on the left that kept letting the roll fall off. Gross! The lighting over the coffee bar was weird and seemed faulty. It flickered on and off when we walked near it, and sometimes came on briefly even when the switch was off. The AC didn’t work the first night, so we sweated and barely slept. We told the desk in the morning, and maintenance had it working within 45 minutes, which was great. Apparently it needs to be on LOW SPEED, since high speed didn’t work in our room. It also has a sensor, I guess, so it only runs when it senses movement. After being out all day, we came back to a hot room, and at night we woke up several times when the sensor apparently thought no one was there. The beds seemed comfy enough the first night, but my back hurt after the second. There’s free parking and a Starbucks inside, but it has a small, limited menu, only small drink sizes, and higher prices than going to Starbucks. The AC sensor was another issue for us. [duplicate thought avoided?]

I stopped here on my drive from San Antonio Texas to hurricane Utah, and this is going to be my regular stop from now on. The rooms were gorgeous and spotless. There’s a 24-hour Starbucks, a bistro open until 10 PM, and the staff were very pleasant.
