The neighborhood is the real draw here. Chinatown is a block away, Northbeach is nearby, and you can look up from the street to see the Transamerica Pyramid. The Omni Zoetrope building, Francis Ford Coppola's old building, is across the street, and Trieste Cafe has that Jack Kerouac, On the Road sort of feel. For someone wanting to stay in the heart of San Francisco without paying for one of the pricier properties, this is a nice option. This old 90-room San Francisco residence inn has a lot of character, almost like a place from Barbary Coast days, though it was refurbished around 2012 and has the modern amenities and renovations you'd expect. The rooms are very small, so be prepared for that, but they're clean and well appointed. The shared kitchen and the many separate men's and women's bathrooms and showers are kept very clean too. There are laundry facilities onsite, plus a small lounge and TV area on the ground floor of the four-story building. Jessie, the property manager, was responsive, knowledgeable, professional, and flexible. His assistant Omar and the rest of the staff were considerate and friendly. This is a good fit for an independent solo traveler who knows their way around.

Lee, the manager, was friendly and professional, and the neighborhood felt safe. The place is clean, with daily cleaning service, and it's close to groceries, a gym, buses, and the metro. You're in the middle of the city near San Francisco's attractions, so you can walk to most places. My room was a little small, and the building seems a bit old, though it is clean. It's a good choice.

Structure Properties has been amazing to work with from beginning to end. They handle maintenance requests and tenant concerns with real professionalism and dedication.

Jesse makes Columbus Residences feel welcoming and safe, and you can tell residents trust and enjoy having him in charge. He's knowledgeable, keeps up with what's going on in the community, and is just fun and easy to talk with. Whether he's sorting out resident needs, coordinating with vendors, or sharing a laugh on a busy day, he brings good energy and professionalism. Columbus Residences is lucky to have him as property manager.

I felt at home here, and the common kitchen, bathrooms, and showers are kept clean by the housekeeping crew. The rooms are cozy but have what you need for a comfortable stay. Other tenants were friendly, I hardly heard my neighbors, and the place felt safe inside and out. This was my first time living alone in San Francisco. Of all the places I looked at, Columbus Residence was the one I fell for right away. It's just off North Beach, Jackson Square, FiDi, and Chinatown, with the rest of the city reachable on foot or by public transit. There's always something going on nearby, with restaurants, bars, entertainment, and clubs. Jesse, the property manager, goes above and beyond for tenants. He's great at communicating, stays on top of problems in rooms and shared spaces, and is usually smiling and easy to reach by text. Sometimes you'll see him in the halls. Jesse and Omar are lovely people who look after you first.
