Sunshine Motel

The beds were really comfortable, and the room was clean and already warm when we arrived, despite the cold weather outside. The TV was a good size for watching the Sugar Bowl. I was also happy with the low price. We went to a nearby restaurant for breakfast, which was close and served excellent food, so I didn’t mind that breakfast wasn’t in the room price. I expect to pass through Las Vegas often and plan to stay at the Sunshine Motel again.

My recently remodeled room had fresh carpet, a large open layout, a big TV, a mini fridge, and a microwave. The beds weren’t pillow-tops, but they were still comfortable. The curtains blocked enough light that I could sleep late, and the bathroom was a decent size with hot water and good pressure. The staff were friendly, and the cashier was chatty and suggested several good local restaurants.

The proprietor was nice, which was about the only good part of the stay. They’d lost my reservation, so I ended up in a smoking room, and one of my two keys didn’t work. There was a strange gap along the bottom of the wall into the next room, so smells and sounds carried over easily. The door also had no inside lock. It was a poor experience even for a budget motel.

The owner was nice, but I won’t book here again. I’d reserved a non-smoking room with a king bed and was moved to a room with two standard beds instead. The room smelled like cigarettes, and the comforter and carpet had cigarette burns. The furniture was grimy, as were the bathroom faucet handles. I’d have rated it one star if not for the kind owner.
