Hilton Garden Inn Wilkes Barre

The hotel itself is very nice, and the staff are generally friendly, but breakfast was a horrible experience. I was the only person waiting for service, sat there for 10 minutes, and the waitress never came to take my order. She spent the time gossiping at the bar with two guys who'd been there since the night before, then went to chat about the weather with someone else. I got tired of waiting when nobody else was there, so I left and had the breakfast fee credited to points.

Most of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The property had just been renovated, but aside from the front entrance, which looked nice, the rest already seemed to need major work again. The blackout curtains didn't really block the light because more than an inch was exposed on each side, even if the center was blackout. They also say they provide $10 per day, but you can't use it the morning of one day and the evening of the next without being charged extra, even if you don't use it at any other time during your stay.

The staff were great, and I'd definitely stay again. Breakfast wasn't included, but the food was delicious and the people working that area were nice. The pool was nice too, and the fitness center was clean.

The service was terrible, and my room was disgusting. I stayed one night; the room smelled very bad and was dirty, the A/C was loud and didn't seem to work properly, used tissues had been put back in the box, and there was no body soap when I checked while already in the shower. I complained downstairs and was told they'd take care of it and that I should get an email. Nothing came, so I called. They'd only returned some of my points, and I learned an employee had decided my dog wasn't a service animal, even though she is. It's illegal to assume that or ask for anything beyond what service the dog provides. If you're traveling with a service pet, be aware they may change your reservation based on their own opinion about whether your animal qualifies. You may also end up in a room that wasn't cleaned properly.
