Candlewood Suites Lawrenceville Princeton by IHG

After driving 16 hours from nova scotia, canada, I was so grateful for how kind and understanding the gentleman at the desk was when I arrived. My Canadian cards wouldn’t work for the deposit, and he went out of his way to get me checked in without stress so I could rest. I can’t say how thankful I was, and still am. The staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms and lobby were clean, and the canteen/store had lots of good choices. The location was convenient for the places I planned to visit during my week in new jersey. Service was great all around. I didn’t catch the names of the employees who made such a difference, but they were all wonderful. I’ll definitely stay here again on my next trip to NJ, and I’m looking forward to it! :)

I make good use of the full kitchen and smart TV, and the rooms have upgraded decor and appliances. They’re well cleaned and cared for. There’s coffee in the lobby all day, plus a grill, patio, and washing machines. I also have plenty of grassy space to walk my dog, with a cute “pet walking area” sign on the doors. I stay here regularly with my dog 🐾, and really love how pet friendly it is and how close it is to several places I value. The staff are kind and accommodating. Patrick, Nancy, Partha, Marilyn, and Ryan at the front desk have all been helpful, and the cleaning ladies I’ve met are friendly too.

Nancy and Marilyn at the front desk were awesome, but the rest of my two night stay was disappointing. I agree with the complaints about noise. The building pressure makes the room and outside doors slam, and I could hear every flush from the upstairs neighbor. Light sleepers should probably avoid staying here. The overnight front desk attendant needs coaching on handling guest complaints and training in how to resolve them.

The room was brand new, super clean, and really nice, with a new-hotel smell lol. Staff were very nice, the shower water temperature was good, and there are snacks, frozen meals, and coffee available downstairs 24/7. But I like the heat at 74-76, and it wouldn’t stay warm in room 303. It blew hot air for 10-15 minutes, then switched to cold. I waited two hours after checking in, as the front desk suggested, but couldn’t take it anymore. When I went down to ask about moving rooms, they seemed confused and said they’d check. By the time I got back, the heat had started working, so I called to say it was okay. Ten minutes later it stopped again. I ended up buying a portable heater at Home Depot, which worked fine. They offered to send maintenance, but I think the issue may affect the whole hotel.
