I stayed Jan 13, 2026 in Room 316 for an early procedure at the dartmouth hitchcock medical center. I needed to be nearby and rested, but after about three hours of sleep I went into a painful procedure exhausted. There were so many problems, including a bathtub plug that didn't work, so guests couldn't even take a relaxing bath. Staff on site were polite, but the conditions and lack of follow-up were unacceptable, especially with the safety and accessibility concerns. I contacted management for a refund and got no reply. The hotel didn't tell me that major remodeling was underway throughout the building, with industrial fans everywhere. The noise was unbearable, the air was painfully dry, and the temperature control was poor. One elevator was shut for construction, while the other kept malfunctioning, so people had to carry luggage up the stairs. I was late to a medical appointment because of it. The internet went down overnight and no one answered the hotel phone. The man in the bistro was very nice. He made me a cobb salad, and when I sat in a booth I realized the fabric was covered in old mashed food. I spoke with someone at corporate, who said I would never get my money back. She asked if I had pets and said the hotel was pet friendly, suggesting animal dander might explain why I felt like I was getting a cold. The symptoms cleared up as soon as I left the building. Meanwhile, air was being pushed around like mad by the industrial fans, which were impossible to escape. She didn't raise any environmental or safety concerns, just kept trying to discount my experience. She offered points, as though I'd want to stay at one of those hotels after this. She took notes, but when I asked her to copy me, she said she couldn't. She also repeated that the room was nonrefundable, even after I described the conditions. She said the refund was up to priceline, where I paid for the reservation, but that marriott had to support it for me to get the money back from priceline. I said that regardless of a refund, the environmental and safety issues needed attention. I got nowhere. They make it seem like you need to be a bonvoy loyalty member to complain, and she asked me to sign up after my stay, saying it would help my cause. Then she repeated that ridiculous animal dander explanation.

I booked a suite in November as a Bonvoy member, for a March medical procedure. It was confirmed, and I heard nothing else until I checked the reservation closer to the date and found it had become a Standard room with 2 Queen size beds. My only alternative was a Standard room with a King size bed, with no explanation for why the suite had disappeared. We had stayed here once before, and it is very convenient to DHMC, but after this trip we'll reconsider our hotel choices in the area. When we arrived, major renovations were clearly underway. The desk clerk just shrugged when we asked. The elevator worked on and off and was filthy with construction dust. Our room faced the parking lot, with two huge dumpsters and building materials piled up. I asked the front desk for an upgrade or a quieter room and was told nothing else was available and the crew stopped at 5 p.m. They actually worked until 7:30 p.m. In the morning, the Bistro was closed and the breakfast bar was pitiful, even worse the next day. A fire alarm test was set for 7:30 a.m. My main complaint is the lack of communication. Since I booked well in advance, I should have been told about the construction and that my chosen room wasn't available. The clerk apologized and referred me to the manager, who was MIA throughout my stay. It was extremely disappointing, especially given the high rates.

The receptionist was nice, but it seems the owners and management group don't care about their clients. Why is the hotel open in this condition and charging regular rates? As a Marriott loyalist, this is making me reconsider my loyalty. I'll avoid doing business here on future stays In Lebanon.

The one thing I'd like to see added is a complimentary continental breakfast bar for Bonvoy Members, since many other locations in the chain already offer it. My wife and I spent two nights at the Courtyard by Marriott Hanover Lebanon and had a wonderful stay. The room felt inviting from the start and was clean and comfortable. The property seemed well cared for, and the atmosphere was relaxing. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout. We'd gladly return the next time we're in the area.

Parking was plentiful, and there are plenty of doors to leave the building near your car. The restaurant and bar looked like they had a nice atmosphere, though we didn't use them. The location works well for hospital visits, and the rooms were quiet and comfortable. It's a little pricey, but DHH has patient coupons for a small discount. You need to have the coupon when you check in to get it.
