Hampton Inn Lebanon

We stayed one night on 8/10 and hadn’t been told the hotel was being renovated. They asked whether we wanted an updated or older room, and we chose the updated one. It was only half finished: there was no room phone or toilet paper holder, the paint smell was strong, and a bent rod held up cheap curtains that let light through. Rooms shouldn’t be occupied before they’re ready. Construction equipment took more than half the parking spaces, and work started around 8 am. I’m glad we only stayed one night, since the noise would have been a problem for longer. At least it was quiet at night and the birds were comfy. The staff were very nice and breakfast was good. I wish we’d known about the renovation so we could have chosen another Hampton Inn, since we’re loyal to the brand.

We gave the hotel 3 out of 5 because nobody told us it was being renovated. The morning woman manager was very nice and explained my bill, something the night desk guy couldn’t do. We were on the third floor, and after getting off the elevator we had to step past the construction site. Doors were missing from a third of the rooms. It might have been better to work on one floor at a time. Our room was clean but definitely needed updating. The side entrance was unlocked, presumably because of the construction, which felt like a safety issue to me. Construction trailers took up much of the parking. There was a sign saying the water might be turned off. If we’d been there during the day with possible water shutoffs and construction noise, I wouldn’t recommend staying here during the work.

The rooms felt cozy, and the staff were really nice. There was a lot of mess around the hotel, though, since they’re remodeling right now. Still, not bad.

The room itself seemed clean at first, and the front desk employee was professional and gave me the information I needed. But the musty odor never went away during my three-day stay. It was cold for my taste, so I tried the heat, then shut it off right away because it smelled like something was burning. I noticed some stains on the comforter while packing on my last night. After that I checked more closely. There was definitely mold in the room’s A/C unit, and the vent by the shower looked either extremely dirty or like it had mold buildup. The chair I’d been using to work was stained too, which I’d already noticed on day two. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel or stay here again because of the cleanliness issues.
