The food was amazing, and the service was right on point. The building has so much charm and history, with a mysterious feel that made me wonder if it’s Ohio’s most haunted spot. Highly recommend it. I can’t wait to return and try more from the menu.

The building is beautiful, and there’s plenty of parking across the street if the main lot fills up. Inside, the seating is lovely wherever you sit, and the food was exquisite. I had the best Shepards Pie I’ve ever tasted, and there’s a nice drink selection. Service was exceptional too. There’s even a cute little gift store under the bar. Definitely worth trying.

The seasonal menu keeps bringing us back, with lots of fresh, delicious farm-to-table dishes. The Black Horse Tavern is in a historic hotel where 12 U.S Presidents have stayed, which sets a nice mood for a meal. The staff are wonderful, the atmosphere is quaint with a slightly upscale feel, and the full bar has specialty cocktails. It’s quiet enough to talk easily.

We celebrated our anniversary here and loved the experience. The building is so unique, and everything we ordered was delicious, especially the salmon dip. They brought us a piece of pie for the occasion, which was such a sweet gesture. We also had fun looking around the gift shop.

Dinner at the Black Horse Tavern on the evening of 10/25 was great, and the service was too. My husband and I were there with our two young children, and we’ve visited several times and usually enjoy the gift shop as well. This time, though, the shop was a very different experience. Our one-year-old was squirmy and wanted to walk around, and our five-year-old naturally wanted to play with him. One of the two women working told me they needed to stop running and said, “it’s not fair.” Her disrespectful, rude, elitist attitude made it clear she didn’t want us there. I said we’d leave, so we did and bought nothing. On the way out, she told me it was a parenting problem. She could have handled it differently instead of making a young family feel targeted. Maybe put up a sign saying no children allowed, then watch your sales drop. We recommend the restaurant, but we’ll tell people about the rude saleswomen in the gift shop who dislike children and young families.
