Lake View Lodge

The grounds are beautiful, and the hotel felt older but was very clean. It wasn't perfect in every way, but I enjoyed staying here and I'm glad we picked it. I'd like to come back.

We slept really well in this quiet little town. The staff were very accommodating, and everything about the quaint inn and cabins was fantastic. Just be aware there's no air conditioning, though it didn't bother us.

Paying over $250 for one night made the unfriendly welcome and poor room especially disappointing. The staff seemed uninterested in helping us, and we felt like a burden instead of guests. The room was musty, old, dim, and neglected, with no comfort to speak of, so relaxing there wasn't really possible. It seems Lake View Lodge gets by on being near Yosemite, since the quality and service didn't match the price.

The name Lake View Lodge is misleading, there was nothing 'Lake View' about it. We paid over $180 for one night, which felt like a rip-off, especially compared with the nice Lake Tahoe resort we're heading to next, where two nights will cost around $200. The motel seems to rely on its location near Yosemite despite the poor conditions and service, and I strongly suggest staying elsewhere in Lee Vining. The Lee Vining Motel or Yosemite Gateway Motel may be worth considering. After a long day at Yosemite National Park, we just wanted a decent night's sleep before continuing our trip. Instead, the room was dated, smelly, dark, and felt neglected, so it was hard to relax. The staff were cold and acted as if we were an inconvenience from check-in onward. The next morning, the front desk was unattended when we asked for extra towels. I called the number provided and got another rude response. Asking for a basic amenity as a paying guest shouldn't make you feel like a burden.
