My 71-year-old dad is a U.S. veteran, and my 60-year-old mom is on dialysis. When their power went out in the recent ice storm, the temperature in their house fell to 17°F, so they went to this hotel looking for a safe room. The staff member who dealt with them was rude, dismissive, and arrogant, and made my dad feel unwelcome. He also felt their ethnicity may have affected how they were treated. We are Mexican American. Turning away a veteran and someone with serious medical needs in dangerous winter weather is completely unacceptable. Other guests should know that discriminatory behavior and rude, disrespectful staff may occur here. I can’t recommend this hotel to anyone expecting basic respect, fairness, and compassion.

There’s a fridge-freezer combo and microwave in the room, and Toups kitchen is right across the way, which was a big plus for dinner. The room was decently clean, with a few minor stains on the couch and floor. The pool looked a bit green. Based on the online reviews, this seems to be the highest-rated hotel in the area. Overall, a decent place to stay.

Had a good two-night stay. The rooms were clean, the showers were hot, and the staff were friendly. Most of all, the AC was good, which you need in Louisiana even in January. Oh, and they have breakfast.

Toup’s restaurant next door was amazing, and I’ll definitely go back. The breakfast was good too, and the staff were kind and hardworking. The hotel was clean and the stay comfortable, though the rooms were a little dated. You can hear through the walls, so bring earplugs or headphones if sounds bother you. Pleasantly surprised.

A bit dated, but it was quiet and very clean, with great service. The value was awesome. I’ll stay here again.
