Right off the highway, and the service made this an easy place to come back to. Everyone was welcoming, kept communication positive, and was glad to help. We stayed May 22-25, 2025 in the “Devil Anse” Hattfield deluxe suite, across from the McCoy suite, for just under $185 a night after fees. There was loads of room, with a king bed, dining and sitting area, desk, and a comfy pullout couch bed. The kitchenette had a mini fridge, toaster, microwave, hotplate, sink, dish soap, drying rack, utensils, cookware, flatware, and knives. The hotel’s history is neat, and the restored look feels cute and welcoming. Outside there are several places to sit, including two pavilions, one enclosed with heat and air, a picnic table, truck parking, and rocking chairs out front. The lobby has seating by a mirrored wall and a small serving kitchenette. Downstairs are the vending machines and laundry, one washer and one dryer, $2 each, so bring quarters. No elevator, but the stairs weren’t a problem. Our room was on the top floor, and getting ice downstairs took about a minute. For anything else, there’s a tiny Valero next door or a handful of restaurants along the strip. I’d recommend Huddle House. 10/10, we’ll stay again.

We’ve stayed here five times and plan to come back when we visit family. We bring two dogs, and the staff has always been accommodating. There’s someone at the desk around the clock, parking is good, it feels safe, and it’s quiet despite being close to plenty of restaurants. Breakfast is pretty decent too. Most of our stays have been in clean rooms and a clean hotel. Once, though, our room wasn’t clean enough and there was something on the bedsheets. The staff apologized, cleaned the room again, and put on fresh bedding.

The room itself was clean and fine for our business trip, but the pillows were very thin and there were only three. I went to the desk hoping to get one more so my husband and I could each have two. Emma was on duty and simply said no, there weren’t any extra pillows. With the blinds shut, light still came into the room. Some machine also ran all night, making a sound like a whistling kettle. When my husband asked the front desk clerk what it was, he said he didn’t know. The employees had no warmth, and the customer service was lacking. After 54 years, I’ve never written a review or emailed a manager before, but this was the time. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.

We arrived to find the place closed, even though they’d taken our money and told us we had a reservation. A lovely welcome to Kentucky.

For $139, we got a room with two queen beds. It was clean enough and we slept okay, but the rooms are on the small side, which makes sense for an older motel. Breakfast was the letdown. At 8:00 a.m. nobody was eating in the tiny area that’s part of the lobby, and I could see why: mostly cold cereal, coffee, yogurt, maybe fruit, and perhaps toast. No eggs, bacon, sausage, or other breakfast meat. Why not just stay at Hampton and get breakfast?
