Hampton Terrace Inn

We stayed in the Spencer room during the off-season with the classic romance package, and things went smoothly. Breakfast was delicious, and downtown was just a few minutes’ walk away. I wasn’t keen on the chocolates in the package, though, and would have preferred a bigger tray, maybe nine pieces. Still, it was a great stay and I’ll be back.

The owner checked in with us each day, and the service and attention were terrific. My wife and I stayed three midweek nights in early February and had a wonderful time. The breakfast chef was friendly and hospitable, made a delicious spread, and shared plenty of ideas for things to see and do nearby. The inn is spacious, well maintained, and full of interesting history. There’s a large gas fireplace in the main living room, plus lots of places to sit, books to read, and games to play. Downtown is only a short walk, as long as it’s not too cold. We’ll definitely stay here again when we return to the area.

Chef Sal made fresh, thoughtfully prepared breakfast, and it was all delicious. We loved our cozy room’s charming decor and en-suite fireplace. The inn had a welcoming feel, almost like visiting family. It’s a historic place with plenty of atmosphere. An unusual cold spell caused problems with the original suite my wife had booked as a birthday surprise, but Stan was open about what was happening and worked with us to make the weekend comfortable. His communication really went above and beyond. We’re already planning to return this summer and look forward to the hospitality.

Stan gave us plenty of helpful links and ideas for nearby sights and places to eat. Breakfast was wonderful, and he’s a great cook. The grits were amazing, and there was enough food that you definitely didn’t leave hungry. We also enjoyed the conversations each morning and the extra touches around the main house and carriage house, which made the place feel so relaxing. My husband and I spent the weekend of 11/22-11/24/2025 at Hampton Terrace for our 40th wedding anniversary. The Pearl Davis Suite was just right for us, beautifully decorated, with a fireplace and hot tub. Stan and his wife really go out of their way to make sure the stay meets your expectations. We can’t comment on the pool, though it looked inviting for warmer weather. As Stan said, “See you down the road.” We hope to see them soon, and wish them happy holidays.
