Hampton Inn Lewiston, ID

We loved how comfortable the beds were, though it was hard to get up in the morning, and our room was spotless. The setting was peaceful and scenic, with lovely views of the hills and river. The front desk staff made check-in easy and helped with our luggage, treating us like family. Breakfast was the classic Hampton spread, fresh and hot, and the waffles were a hit. We stayed a couple of nights and were blown away. It’s a cozy, quiet Lewiston spot with terrific service.

The rooms were decent and I liked the layout, but the bed felt cheap. At a Hilton I expect better than the bottom-of-the-barrel mattress we got. The bigger problem was a large group of hockey players with a ton of children. Their kids ran and yelled in the hallways all day and night, and the hotel put the whole group on the third floor, so people from the first through fourth floors had to hear the stomping and shouting. Staff made no effort to quiet them, even after I spoke to them. Breakfast the next morning was more of the same chaos. Kids were running and screaming everywhere, throwing balls by the front door that flew all over, even behind the counters. A dozen children were playing around and under the coffee table, so I couldn’t even get coffee. The staff just sat there without saying anything. I won’t be back.

I’ve stayed at this Hampton several times and had previously reported carpet beetles in the rooms. I trusted that the issue had been dealt with, but on my latest stay I started itching as if I’d been bitten. Then I found debris in the mattress seams: hair, toenail clippings, crumbs, several live carpet beetle larvae, and another bug I couldn’t identify. The front desk moved me to a room on another floor, but under that mattress was the same filthy, unsanitary condition. I checked out right away. Management only offered a generic apology and 10,000 points after I contacted them myself. They didn’t answer my follow-up email explaining this was a health and sanitation issue, not just an inconvenience. That lack of response concerns me. There seems to be an ongoing pest and housekeeping problem that could affect public health. I’m sharing this so Hilton corporate knows and guests can make an informed choice before booking.

The rooms are modern, clean, and quiet, with the amenities you’d expect from the Hilton group, including a pool, breakfast, and meeting rooms. Home Depot is right across the street, and the hotel has views overlooking Lewiston.
