The bed, pillows, and bathroom were clean, and the front desk staff were nice. But the rest of the room was a mess. The carpet was black with dirt and clearly hadn't been cleaned in ages, so don't walk on it barefoot. The coffee maker was filthy enough to draw in the grime on top, and the old coffee sachet was still inside. The base was shockingly dirty too. Later we found what we think was a sock wedged between the bed and bedside table, caked in dust and looking like it'd been there a long time. It took several trips up and down the stairs before the key card worked. It never did, and the poor woman at the desk finally had to come upstairs and give us another room. This was the most overpriced motel we've stayed at on this trip. The owners need to do a lot better.

The clerk was the one good part of this stay. He understood why we wanted to cancel and helped us get reimbursed. We saw no live evidence of bedbugs, but I still couldn't make myself stay.

This rundown, dirty place gives flophouses a bad name. We booked through hotels.com, and the man at the desk seemed annoyed by that. He said he couldn't give us a receipt because we booked on an app. They also took a credit card for incidentals, though I can't figure out what we were supposed to have bought. Cousin Eddie would give this place one star. Ugh, don't stop here.

My brother and I both left feeling sick. Our bedding had mold and both dead and live spiders, and the room smelled strongly of chemicals. The doors could just be opened by anyone, even though the signs said "Guests Only." We were right below the stairs, with people going up and down all night.

The room was 100 degrees when we walked in, smelled of mold, and the bathtub hadn't been cleaned at all. More seriously, there was no working smoke detector in room 201. That's a violation of Nebraska laws, and guests could have a fire and die without an alarm warning them. The owners and general manager know about the hotel's condition and the law but still refuse to fix the problem. They also refuse refunds when it's raised, and would rather have guests pay more for a safer room. Please check your room for a smoke detector if you stay. Management doesn't seem to care either way, so stay at your own risk.
