Holiday Inn Lexington North

The hotel is beautiful, just off the highway, and close to Sedona. The rooms were spacious and clean, the staff helpful and friendly, and the amenities amazing. For what we paid, it felt worth a hundred more per night. Still, I wouldn’t stay again because there was no supervision around the hot tub. Some guests were getting hammered there with open containers, and the water was a little cloudy. I assumed the heat might explain that. Once we got in, potty training age kids and younger kept coming and going. I’m a mom, so their presence didn’t bother me, but none wore swim diapers, and after a few minutes it seemed very likely I was sitting in a tub full of pee. There were also a couple grinding on each other in front of small children. With the open containers, no swim diapers, and that behavior, I wouldn’t return. It’s a real loss for the owners, since they could easily charge another 100 bucks per room per night and make much more if they hired supervision for those areas.

I’ve stayed here several times before, but this latest visit was a letdown. The staff were nice and helpful, but Room 613 wasn’t clean when we arrived, with a tangerine behind the refrigerator. The beds were terrible, with very thin and uncomfortable mattresses, and I’m pretty sure we may have seen a bed bug. This place has turned into a dirty party pad. There are plenty of hotels nearby, so go somewhere else.

We only needed somewhere to rest for a few hours on the road, but the room was pretty gross, with stains on all the furniture and hair in the bed. The guests in the lobby were obnoxious and clearly intoxicated. Staff weren’t rude, but they didn’t seem professional either, and there was lots of profanity and casual behavior.

We come back every year and wouldn’t switch hotels for anything. Clarion is easy for travelers to reach, along the city’s northern outerbelt. The rooms are clean and well maintained, with a TV, hair dryer, mini fridge, ironing board and iron, plus daily room service. The staff were pretty good before, and somehow they’ve gotten even better.
