Red Roof Inn Lexington - Hamburg

Three months after a previous stay, I came back and the night manager didn't charge a deposit for my two-night visit. But at 5 pm on the second day, the day desk manager, who wasn't nice, came to my door and said I was on a “do not rent” list and had to leave immediately, with no refund for day two. I had never had a problem there. I've always been quiet and respectful, tipped housekeeping every stay, and even stayed at another Red Roof Inn in Florida. Being rented a room for two nights, then told to leave early on the second day because I'd supposedly been put on the list three months before, in 17 degree weather and without a refund, may constitute criminal fraud. I'm sick over all the money and loyalty I've given this chain. On my previous visit I asked the night desk manager why one particular day desk manager charged me a $100 deposit while none of the others at the same hotel did. She said she had to charge it and it wasn't up to her. It's pretty obvious what happened here, and people are so vindictive these days. After this and reading the reviews for the first time, I'm done.

There were stains on everything in our room, and the toilet squealed when flushed. Staff were unbelievably ignorant. I booked four nights while we were out of town and also reserved a king suite for the bride-to-be. They said guests weren't allowed, even though these people were only stopping by and weren't staying the night. This was my worst hotel experience. To the staff, if you don't like your job, do something else.

The desk staff and night auditors were friendly and always ready to help. The GM and especially his wonderful wife were so kind to my precious poodle, petting her whenever I came through the lobby with her. Housekeeping were polite beneath the skylight rotunda, too. The women working morning and overnight shifts make the best coffee. Cheerio!

Around midnight, there was a party of some kind in the hall or parking lot, with loud voices, slamming doors, people outside the windows, and a hallway that smelled like a full-on weed convention. The vending machines didn't have water, either. Since I was a rewards member, the desk gave me two bottles. When I asked for two more, she said she couldn't, so I paid for them. Not much of a hospitality vibe. Earlier, I found nail clippings scattered on the carpet between the beds, not just lint. The TV wouldn't work, and after trying everything, I noticed the coax cable wasn't plugged in. The room phone was dead too, so I had to call the desk from my cell. I've stayed at plenty of Red Roof Inns and usually had a good experience, but this location was a hard pass. For the price, it wasn't remotely worth it, and I won't come back.
