Indian Head Resort

I've been coming here since I was a kid, and the location is a real plus, with Clark's trading post just 8 min away and plenty of delicious food in town. The hotel building is on the older side but well maintained, and there's plenty to enjoy onsite, including a heated pool and arcade. The beds were more comfortable than some I've had at fancier places. There's lots to do in both winter and summer. Don't overlook this spot, it's truly a gem.

We didn't stay overnight, but we came for the Thanksgiving buffet and every part of it was perfect. The prime rib was the best I've ever had, hands down, and the turkey was moist and flavorful. The glazed ham was spot on too. Dessert was just as impressive, with Indian pudding, pecan pie, chocolate cake, and ice cream all perfect. The buffet was well managed, constantly replenished, and kept super fresh. Even though the dining area was full, it didn't feel cramped or loud. The atmosphere was relaxing, with great views of the pond and mountains. The tables were beautifully set in a comfortable, understated way. Our server was a lovely woman, attentive but not overbearing. I can't recall her name, though she did tell us. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect Thanksgiving and am already looking forward to next year. Thanks to you and your wonderful staff!

The food was excellent, and Sarah from maintenance gave us the best customer service of the trip. She ran a shuttle so we could get back and forth to the ice castles, and we spent 30 minutes total with her. We booked last minute for the kids' February school vacation, though, and front desk Pam had a bad attitude and wasn't welcoming at all. The place feels stuck in the 90s, just as it was when I visited as a child. The floors are crooked, like they're about to collapse. The bathtub was moldy, and the shower burned my skin with sudden swings from icy cold to boiling hot. The indoor pool was dirty, and the outdoor one was freezing with what looked like human feces in the deep end. We won't be visiting any time soon.

Dinner service was wonderful, and our waiter, Tyler, was attentive, helpful, and accommodating. This was our second visit to Indian Head, and we're excited to return. It's a vintage, timeless, activity-filled, kid-driven resort that feels 100% family friendly. There's so much for kids to do, including sledding, pools, an arcade, and a gift shop. My one complaint is that our tub clogged easily and there was lots of hair built up in the drain. Still, we had a great time and it was well worth the visit.
