I’ve slept terribly in hotels for years, but this was the first time I actually got decent sleep. The staff are extremely helpful and courteous, and their great customer service really redeemed the place for me. It was a good spot to crash before a wedding, and it’s very close to Walmart and other eateries. I’m a bit bougie about amenities, though: the rooms are mid at best, there’s no walk-in shower, and there wasn’t a continental breakfast. I’m not into the coffee and bagel thing. The hotel still gets the job done, and I’d recommend it. Update: After the wedding, my brother and I got back ready to rest, but our card didn’t work and we had an issue with the night staff. Their carelessness and negligence mean I personally wouldn’t stay again. The next morning I talked to the desk woman, I think her name is Kissa. She was amazing and showed me the needless inconvenience could have been fixed with a few extra clicks. She was kind, accommodating, and informed. I enjoyed the stay because of her. She deserves accolades and promotion.

Rooms are fine, and most of the staff are great. V., the sales associate, is snippy, difficult to work with, and extremely unprofessional. As contractors with an international corporation, we’re Bonvoy Silver Elite members. We book two rooms for a week, event space, and catering six or seven times a year. We tip the front desk, room staff, and Bistro workers $50-$200 every stay. We’ve also put up with our rooms not being ready until close to 7 pm at check-in for the last four stays. V. regularly takes too long to return calls and is so disagreeable that many of our employees have commented on it. On Monday 12/8, she cancelled our 12/12 reservations and employee luncheon, which we’d made over a week earlier, without contacting us first or giving a reason. We called at 3:50 pm on 12/8 to confirm and the front desk said the reservations were cancelled, though he couldn’t see why. The cancellation email came an hour later. They’d already taken the $1800 catering fee, and it won’t be refunded for over a week. Marriott has probably lost $25,000 a year from a loyal customer because of one employee’s poor attitude.

The staff have always made this Courtyard Marriott a reliable place for me to stay while working nearby over the last several years. A couple of weeks ago, everyone I spoke with was especially friendly, kind, and helpful. This time, though, I had to check out and find another nearby hotel. Soon after entering my first room, my throat started itching, and my ears and face felt warm. There was a very strong smell, like floral cleaner mixed with harsh chemicals, which I think may have come from recently shampooed carpet. Staff quickly and graciously moved me, but the second room had the same overpowering smell. I hope this feedback helps, since this location has otherwise been reliable for me.

Staff were very friendly when I checked in, and there was plenty of well-lit parking. The rooms are spacious and clean, in a convenient location near Atlanta. The bathroom is getting tired, with bleach spots all over the wallpaper. The shower itself is great, and you can use the on/off knob without getting wet, but water gets all over the floor no matter what. I’ll stay again for the convenient location.

The rest of the staff were AWESOME, from housekeeping greeting me with smiles to the people who made sure I had what I needed. At the Courtyard lobby, Ms. Courtney and Kisha greeted me with big bright smiles, and their warmth helped me relax. Crystal at the bar welcomed me and took care of me while I probably talked her head off. Mr. Aaron was very nice and respectful, and Ms. Keianna, the supervisor, came over, assured me I was okay, and listened without judgment in a safe, free space. I won’t forget this staff. The way Mr. David treated me meant my rating would have been five if he’d been more welcoming. I’d had a long day and needed to get away for emergency purposes. I arrived at the Fairfield side around 11 pm, exhausted and looking rough, with my only ID and credit card on my phone. David told me I had to book through the app. He said they had rooms, but the app showed none. When I pointed that out, he just stared and said maybe it was a glitch, though he also said he could see 46 rooms available. I asked whether they had a room next door and whether the rates were the same or different. He said the other place was more expensive, and I felt more offended. I went next door to the Fairfield, but David came over to see if I was staying there. Ms. Nicole helped me get a room even though none were left after I booked with Fairfield. I had to drive all the way home to Douglasville for my license and credit card, then come back. I didn’t get into a room until 1 am. David kept giving me side-eye and looking at me like I was a suspect, as if I might do something. Later, when the Fairfield front desk was closed, I followed the sign and went to the Courtyard side for help. David sent me back to Fairfield and said the person wouldn’t return until 11, but I later found out something different. He made me feel worthless at first. He didn’t know I was at a breaking point and needed to decompress. I just needed a friendly word and a smile. I felt low, like I wasn’t worth being there, though I know I am. I’m a retired veteran who served my country, raised kids and grandkids, and would do anything to help someone. Even then, I knew who I am and whose I am. With God on my side, I slept well.
