The library was my favorite spot to read, and I also loved exploring the downstairs common rooms. My husband and I had a lovely stay at The Hornibrook Mansion (The Empress), which is beautifully furnished and feels like stepping into another time. Upstairs, our room had a great soaking tub for a bubble bath, a luxurious king bed, and a cozy gas fireplace. We definitely want to return.

James, the proprietor, was kind, warm, and very helpful. The inn is peaceful and lovely, with striking Victorian furnishings and plenty of comfortable spots to sit indoors or out. We had a lovely stay and would recommend it. The amenities were sparse, though. In our four nights there was no housekeeping, trash pickup, bed making, water bottle refill, or fresh towels, so we took out our own garbage. There was a coffee maker in the room and tea in the hallway. We knew breakfast wasn’t included, but for a place this beautiful and at this price, we expected a little more, perhaps a light continental option or a small touch like afternoon wine. Better service and amenities would make the stay even nicer.

We stopped at the Ernest Hemingway Room on our way home from Hot Springs, and it was a memorable, cozy place to unwind after a long drive. The property was charming, peaceful, and beautifully kept, and the room felt luxurious and comfortable. Downtown and several good restaurants are only a short distance away. It was unusually cold during our visit, so we drove, though in normal weather it would be an easy, pleasant walk. We’d happily come back.

The building is beautiful, but the man I spoke to made no effort to welcome me. I’m here for two weeks and wanted some information, but he just told me to look it up online. If he’d been friendlier and more helpful, I would have stayed. His rude greeting made deciding not to stay much easier. It’s a shame when a place has employees or owners like that.

We stayed in the Garden Suite, and it was spotless, beautiful, and had a really comfortable bed. Antonio made our visit unforgettable with his hospitality, charisma, and storytelling. I felt more loved and cared for there than I ever have in a stranger’s home. He went above and beyond. My husband and I got married at the Empress on 6/7/25. From arriving the day before through our departure, everything was wonderful. The home is exceptionally beautiful. If you want a memorable stay, a vacation, a good story, or the chance to meet a remarkable person, run to the Empress in Little Rock. I’d give it a hundred stars if I could, and we’ll visit again.
