The Angler Hotel Livingston, an Ascend Collection Hotel

There’s lots of parking in a great area, and the staff were friendly. The hotel has a restaurant inside, with other restaurants within walking distance too. The rooms were nice and clean, but the beds were much too soft, and there was an odor around the hotel. Aside from those issues, it was good.

The fire alarm went off three times during our one-night stay, once at 11 p.m. and twice at 3 a.m. That was pretty unpleasant. When we told the front desk about it at checkout, management didn’t apologize or even acknowledge what we said. The room itself was nothing special. It was decently clean overall, but there was a cleaning rag left behind and the fridge was wide open, as if someone had to leave mid-cleaning. You can tell the hotel’s been renovated, though I’d call the result subpar.

The room was really nice and clean, and I finally got some much-needed rest after a long, frustrating travel day. It was also our first time in the area, so having a restaurant right in the hotel was a plus. The food was so good, and the customer service was excellent. Patrick and Johnnie, I believe that was the cook’s name, were amazing!

The bar by the entrance looks nice, and the hotel itself was decent. But I couldn't switch the TV over to my FireStick, which was a big problem since I use a particular show to fall asleep. I asked the front desk for a remote that could change the input and they wouldn't give me one. If you want a hotel that controls what you can watch, this might suit you.
