Mesa View Lodge

The property is beautiful, and the shared porch turned out to be a lovely place to meet some great people. It's a bit dated, but still has plenty of charm. The owner was kind and quick to help with all our sometimes crazy requests, and the two owner dogs were sweet, wandering around the grounds. It's dog friendly, too. There's a train track nearby, though with the door shut we couldn't hear it. You do need to drive to the beach, which I liked since it wasn't as crowded. I'd recommend staying here and would come back.

We were about a mile from the lake at this cozy place. It could use a few upgrades, but when the AC stopped working they did what they could to keep us comfortable. If you bring a dog, just know the owners' dogs roam freely around the property.

I was surprised by how clean the rooms were, since this was my first time at a motel. The heat and AC both worked well, I checked each one just for fun. The only hassle was having to walk to the laundry room to use a microwave, which is an odd spot for it. That setup isn't great during Covid, though it's fine the rest of the year. It's a nice place for a motel. Prices might be a little lower, but the owner seems to book regularly at the current rate, so I can't blame him.

It's a quiet, low-key place without the rowdy party crowd you get camping on the beaches. I'll keep coming back as long as reviews say it's still a nice, peaceful spot for families.
