Aqua Venture Inn

I wish I could give this place zero stars. The bathroom floor was wet and filthy, and the room smelled awful and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned. The floors were disgusting, the couch was stained, and the sheets and mattress had stains and cigarette burns. When we asked for fresh sheets, the replacements were just as bad and full of holes. The woman changing them seemed to think we didn’t speak Spanish and spoke badly about us while she worked. Everything else was booked for the festival we were attending, so we ended up spending $150 on an air mattress and supplies. The place was so disgusting that I’m requesting a refund. There wasn’t even a fire alarm, which is dangerous. Stay away!

The rooms are incredible, especially the ones with a Jacuzzi inside, and everything was clean and in working order. Staff were friendly too. It’s right among the nightlife and restaurants, with everything within walking distance, and the beach is close as well. I’d recommend it 100%.

I’m usually patient and gentle, so the way I was treated in the lobby really surprised me. A woman looked me up and down with disgust, turned her back, then opened a door and let it slam in my face. The person checking guests in didn’t try to hide what I perceived and felt was racial bias, or racism. I was told to get $100 in cash across the street on top of what I’d already paid if I wanted to stay. On my way out, I asked a white guest whether they’d had to do that, and they said no. The whole interaction made me feel they saw me as a threat. That was traumatizing, and it was morally and legally wrong.

The comforter was nice, and the place was neat, but I slept on top of everything instead of in the bed. The bathroom was a no for me, and I saw a few bugs, though I can’t say anything about the beds themselves. It’s an okay hotel, but there’s a lot that needs work, including the paint and a redesign as soon as possible.
