Enchanted Cottages

Everything was spotless, and the beds were super comfortable. The cheerful cottage was beautifully decorated, with thoughtful details like clear check-in directions, extra blankets, and a coffee bar stocked with teas, creamers, and custom-made coffee.

I’ve stayed twice in Hollyhock, their smallest space, and it’s just right for me and my two kids. The little kitchenette means I can cook for us instead of paying for every meal out. It’s great being near town, so we can go back and forth as needed, and I like that this is a small, quiet place without a huge crowd. They’ve made improvements since our last visit. The new mattress was so comfortable that, even though I usually sleep badly away from home, I slept surprisingly well. The owner told me it was brand new. I also loved the adjustable bed and dimmable lamps above it, a lovely touch for a bookworm who reads before bed. Enchanted Cottages will definitely be our regular place when we visit this part of the coast.

There were two wet towels left on hooks behind the Sandpiper entry door from the previous guest, which the cleaner had missed. The under-counter tap lights didn’t work either, though I got one going with the spare remote batteries. During one rainy day of my three-night June stay, with temperatures in the low to mid 50s, only one heater worked. The fire pit was rusty, its furniture uncomfortable, and the cushions musty. Dead potted plants and weeds were the first things you saw, and all the bird feeders were empty. It felt less enchanted than quaint and neglected. The owners ask guests not to post a review here unless it’s five stars, which feels like false advertising to me. I nearly took off another star for that.

We booked Sandpiper on the same day for a last-minute trip, and it was cozy with plenty of space for two. The cottage was clean, well stocked, and very welcoming, with clear check-in and checkout instructions. It was peaceful and quiet, with the beach just across the street and plenty of amenities in the area. We’d absolutely stay again. Thanks for the hospitality!
