Jan 2026 This was a pleasant alternative when the Hyatt Regency Long Beach, just across the road, was fully booked for the convention centre event. We usually stay there. The other Hyatt was only a few minutes’ walk away, in a good spot near shops, Shoreline village and the marina, plus plenty of restaurants and Starbucks. It’s about a 10-minute lovely walk to the beach. The hotel is modern and nice, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The rooftop pool has lovely views of the Queen Mary and cruise ships, and is a very cool feature. It was warm enough to swim on only a couple of days. The pool is supposed to be heated, but wasn’t when we were there. The poolside bar was closed, so there were no drinks to grab, though I guess that’s to be expected in January. I prefer The Hyatt Regency, but I liked this room layout, with one Queen and one double room. It was more spacious than the rooms I’ve had at The Hyatt Regency. There’s plenty to do nearby.

The hotel and rooms are nice, and the location puts you right in the center of the Pike, with food, shopping, the beach, aquarium, and other attractions all within walking distance. The rooftop pool was great on a hot day, but the chairs are first come, first served unless you rent a cabana. The thermostat was the problem. We set it to 65 before bed, but the temperature rose to 75 overnight because a sensor seemed to turn off the air when there wasn’t movement in the room. We had to get up and tap it repeatedly that first night. Opening the windows for a breeze also shuts off the AC, which displays a message asking you to close them. We mentioned it at the front desk. I’m not sure if an engineer fixed it remotely, but it stayed cool after that.

We stayed one night after our cruise to rest, and had a great time. David on staff was super friendly and recommended good food nearby. The clean room had a nice view, and the rooftop was a relaxing place to lounge with a drink from the market and read. You can see the cruise ships and Queen Mary from up there, and hear the regular horns. The pool was nice, though not heated, and we didn’t use it. The hotel is near the outlets and about a 15-minute walk from the beach. Breakfast was good, but there was only one person working, rushing around while guests waited. The supplied lotion also wasn’t for me, it didn’t absorb. We’d stay again.

We stayed the night before our cruise and would definitely come back. The bed at the Hyatt Centric Pike was so comfortable that the luxurious beds and bedding in our cruise suite couldn’t compare. Check-in was quick, with a smile and a warm welcome from the front desk. The room was modern, very clean, and had a great layout. It’s an easy walk to shopping and lots of good restaurants.

The rooftop pool is heated, with nice lounge areas and incredible views. Our room also had a sofa and a nice modern shower. The mattress was a bit soft, but we loved the stay. The location is perfect, one block from the pier and beach, with dozens of restaurants nearby. I’m glad we took a chance on this hotel.
