Searle Motel

There’s a bus stop right outside, which takes you to the blue line station and then across LA or to union station. To save on Uber or Lyft, you can take the blue line to Artesia station and catch the 51 bus to the motel. Nearby, there’s a gas station across the street with pretty decent hot food, a jack in the box, a very yummy Mexican restaurant with subway connected to it, and a gumbo shack serving yummy southern dishes. I’m not from California and am looking for a place for my son and me, so affordability matters. I’ve stayed here before and am staying here now. It could use some renovation, but it’s not awful. The owners are awesome and go out of their way to make your stay comfortable. The bed is firm, which works for me since I have back issues and don’t wake up sore. It’s quiet for the most part, and of the motels I considered, this felt less stressful, without the weird vibes I’ve had at some others. If you need a cheap, budget-friendly motel for a short or long stay, I recommend it. I can only speak for my own experience, and I like to see a place for myself instead of relying on other reviews. I’m satisfied.

A few problems made this place not worth the money, even for a simple budget motel. The shower was freezing, the walls had stains, the Wi-Fi wouldn’t connect for hours, and broken glass windows were held together with duct tape. People argued loudly right outside my window. I’d booked three days but left after one night. They insisted on a cash $20 deposit, so I didn’t even try to get a refund. In 2024, they can’t take a deposit by credit card and refund it? It made me feel like they just don’t care about guests. I don’t recommend staying here.

I was amazed by this wonderful motel. I loved staying here, and anyone in the area should give it a chance. Beautiful place.

We only meant to stay a day or two, but ended up spending four. The room was clean, the bed felt sturdy and clean, and while the sheets weren't especially soft, they weren't dirty or scratchy. The bathroom and tub were good, and the towels were clean and useful. The staff were really cool and gave me tips on places to avoid and how to dress for the heat while I did some work. I had a lot of fun, made friends, and earned money letting my inner bad girl out. I'll definitely come back.
