Courtyard by Marriott Long Beach Airport

The meeting room worked very well for the business event I attended, and it was a nice space. We had good boxed lunches, though I'm not sure whether the hotel supplied them. Getting there was easy since it's close to the freeway. There seemed to be plenty of hotel parking, but I think some of the meeting attendees still had to park on a side street.

Being next to the LBX was handy for food within walking distance, and the room itself was fine, with a bathroom and beds and no obvious bugs. But the broken deadbolt made the door hard to shut, and the elevator was so slow that simple trips back and forth took a while. It was hard to find the stairs, and they let out outside instead of into the lobby, so there wasn't an easy alternative for getting upstairs. Half our group got locked out in the morning, two hours before checkout, and replacing the keys took extra time because moving between floors was so awkward. The TV was set up with someone else's name for another room. Our kids were outside chatting and playing on the concrete around 5 p.m., in daylight, staying out of everyone's way and making no noise beyond talking, but the night manager yelled at them repeatedly and told them they couldn't play. It did the job, but I travel quite a bit and wouldn't be in a hurry to book another stay here.

We were able to check in early, and the room was good. The airport shuttle experience was the problem. The Marriott employee driving it, who was also working the front desk, said the van was open and sat in the driver's seat without opening it or helping with our luggage. At the airport he stayed in the van while we got out, opened it, and unloaded our own bags. I've never had a shuttle driver do that. We planned to tip him, but didn't after the way he treated us. Great customer service. The hotel Wi-Fi was poor, and my 5G was bad there too.

We had no mobile service at all and stayed on SOS the whole time. Staff said that was normal because of how close the hotel is to the airport. The free, unsecured internet was painfully slow and didn't make up for being unable to connect by phone. I'd suggest picking another hotel with better connectivity.
