Turtle Crawl Inn

The unit was clean and had everything we needed, from towels, shampoo, dish soap and a sponge to dishes, utensils and beach chairs. It was a good size, with a big bedroom and very comfortable beds, and we never heard nearby guests. I had such a relaxing trip that I barely took pictures, just one of the sunset over the empty beach. The beach is right outside the building, so it didn't matter that we couldn't see it from our room. The beach was quiet and nearly empty, and the pool was usually empty too, with water at a nice temperature. They thoughtfully provide beach and pool toys, chairs, noodles, grills and mini golf. The place was beautiful and in great condition, especially for older buildings by the salty air. We stayed in unit 74 and had the best experience. Nolene at the front desk was incredibly kind and took great care of us, and the unit owner was kind and helpful too. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a beach stay!

We loved our first visit so much that we came back the next year with our husbands and grandson, after the three of us had gone the year before. We stayed in a villa, and it's such a peaceful, quaint place. The private beach is gorgeous, with sunsets you really shouldn't miss. There's a pool, gas grills, shuffle board and a putting green, plus lots of nearby activities. The staff are pleasant and ready to help. We're going again next year and can't wait.

After coming to Turtle Crawl Inn every summer for years, we're starting to feel disappointed. We usually rent the same units on the fifth floor, and over the last two seasons we've noticed the same issues in almost all of them: old, soft beds, furniture that hasn't been updated in a long time, weak water pressure and clogged drains. The premium location used to make the high prices feel justified, but now we can find other resorts at similar rates with much better amenities.

The beachfront itself was beautiful, but we wouldn't rent Unit #64 at Turtle Crawl Condos again. The pool stayed at a comfortable temperature, though it's small for the number of guests, and sand sat on the bottom throughout our stay. The BBQ area was great and parking was easy. Laundry was a major frustration: only one washer worked, three were out of order, and we lost money trying them. The app wouldn't let us add funds either, so we had to leave with wet clothes. The kitchen barely had supplies, just one pot, one pan and very few utensils. The coffee machines were good, but the air mattress in the hall closet was dirty and unusable, despite extra pillows and blankets being there. The front office staff were thoughtful and professional, and kindly offered champagne for my birthday. Housekeeping was the opposite. The housekeeper entered without knocking and spoke rudely when we asked for two more pool towels. When I said there was no dish soap, she insisted on inspecting the unit even after I showed her the soap I'd just bought at Publix. She eventually brought a sponge, but the interaction felt uncomfortable and unprofessional. Before our arrival, we asked to move the booking to different dates, not to get a refund, so we could come another weekend with our children and use a larger unit that was available. Booking.com said the owner could approve the change, but the owner refused without explanation. We're a Hispanic family, and that left us wondering whether the refusal was unfair or possibly discriminatory. We can't recommend this unit. If you only need somewhere to sleep and want beach and pool access, and don't mind intrusive housekeeping, few supplies, poor service and questionable management, it may suit you. Otherwise, I'd look elsewhere.
