Fairfield Inn & Suites Longview

The room was on the small side, with what looked like full beds rather than queens, and a small TV. That was fine unless you’re there to watch TV. The beds were comfortable, the room was clean, and there were no bugs. Breakfast was good, with lots of places to eat nearby. The AC worked great, maybe a little too well. The toilet handle was hard to push down.

The manager was amazing and extremely accommodating. She said a full remodel was coming and would pass my suggestions on to the new owner. The fold-down bench is useful, but it’s at the back of the tub, while the water controls are too far away. The open space by the bench only lets you pull up beside the tub sideways, which didn’t feel safe. As a bilateral above-knee amputee, I found the room great otherwise: plenty of space, a bed at wheelchair height, and a well-appointed bathroom. Would I stay again? Most definitely.

The pictures looked okay when I booked, but they can’t show you a smell. The room seemed fine at first, then after the AC had been running for a few hours, there was an awful burning-mold odor. It was so strong that even the clothes in my suitcase picked it up. The front desk agreed the old AC units smelled bad, and a handyman changed the filters on day two, but that didn’t help. The hall carpets were disgusting too. They spray them with a harsh, chemical-smelling freshener that makes things even worse. If you’re sensitive to musty or other bad smells, don’t stay here.

The location is great, near the mall and lots of restaurants. Staff are consistently friendly and professional. The breakfast bar is a bit small, but it’s clean and stocked.
