Aiden Los Angeles Downtown Dragon Gate Inn

After driving six hours from Nevada, we arrived needing to use the restroom. The front desk attendant with glasses told us the only restroom was closed for cleaning and that there wasn’t another one. We stood there for at least 45 minutes waiting. I can’t imagine the front desk staff would be happy to wait that long themselves, especially after paying $450 a night for a hotel with no lobby restroom.

The bed was clean and the pillows were soft, which is why I’m giving it three stars. The elevator wasn’t working, and when we arrived in the rain the floors were very slippery. Extending the roof a bit could keep water off the walkways. There were no free water bottles, and the room didn’t have toothbrushes, so we had to ask the front desk. The soap, shampoo, and conditioner pumps were almost empty when we got there.

We found the parking structure below the hotel easy to use, and the staff were friendly. The elevator was out, though that didn’t bother me since a little exercise is fine. The rooms were very clean, and the location made it easy to walk to lots of great places downtown, including Phillipe’s Sandwich. There are also street vendors a block or two away selling fresh fruit and samples from around the world. I’ll definitely return for more LA sightseeing.

An older Chinatown building, but the rooms have been updated with a chic, modern look, and the newer towels were a nice touch. The place was clean and the staff were really kind, especially Itzel and Desiree, I think those were their names. It’s only a block or two from some outstanding, famous Chinese restaurants. I’ll stay here again next time I’m in town.
