I haven’t had a truly healthy meal in a year. The three meals served each day are prison-style, with no fresh fruit and nothing to drink except water. Many of us used to bring our own fruit, juice, and soda to get by, but that’s now banned too. We’re already treated worse than animals, and now we can’t even bring in our own groceries. This privately owned shelter/prison is funded through the Mayor’s Office program called “Safe Inside,” which receives hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars every month.

The room smelled bad, and the fire alarm kept beeping even though there was no fire. I also found a roach. The bigger issue was that while I was asleep it went near my mouth. When I called room service, they thought my story sounded too bizarre to help and tried to belittle my concern.

The maids keep everything spotless, and the staff were awesome, helping me with plenty of tasks. It’s a great place to live and enjoy delicious food. Thank you, B.A.R.e. for this project..

Pretty decent place, and the staff are really nice. The bed is twin size and sits in the middle of the room. There’s a table with two chairs and a fridge, but no dresser or coat rack. The TV setup is lacking. Still, the air conditioner, heater, Wi-Fi, and dehumidifier make up for it, exactly what I always wanted! No bathtub? Uhhhh, okay. At least the water temperature has amazing range!

So far, living here through the government program has been okay.
