The hotel was convenient to the funeral location and very clean. Inside, the lobby looks good at first, but closer up you can see missed construction details, such as uneven ceiling lines, and plenty of maintenance issues. The shower in our room was a safety concern: you have to reach more than 30 inches past the fixed glass panel to turn the valve on, so the sudden cold water could make someone fall. Getting in is difficult because the directions take you past the entrance. Leaving is awkward too, since plants and building pillars block the view to the left.

The large parking lot and clean room were the only things I liked. I checked in around 3 p.m. on May 1st, after waiting 20 minutes while the front desk employee struggled with the computer and the one customer ahead of me. When I finally asked for a single room for two people with a large bed, the elderly woman made me repeat every word three times. Her expressions and manner felt hostile and disdainful, especially toward my slight accent. I even got the impression she might spit at me because of it. When I handed over my ID, she looked at it as if I’d picked trash up off the street. I’ve stayed in hotels across the U.S. and around the world and never had trouble checking in before. This was the worst service I’ve experienced, and the way I was treated was humiliating.

I arrived at the Chatsworth DoubleTree at 2 a.m. on 10/11/2025, after an event with my family, and found the parking lot full. The hotel wasn’t gated, so I had to leave my car at the far north end. Nearby, three cars had people watching my car and others, sleeping with lots of belongings in their vehicles. I didn’t want to assume they were homeless, but I also saw four people sleeping in a box tent in the lot. They called out to me and made inappropriate comments. I had no choice but to leave my car there. At 8 p.m. I’d told a front desk manager I’d arrive late because the event would run past midnight. I also explained that my room was booked for four because of limited availability, but that two more family members would join us. She said it should be fine, that I could check in whenever I arrived, and appreciated the heads-up. At 2 a.m., a different employee argued that I had to either leave with everyone and get no refund, or pay another $50 per guest. She dismissed what I told her about the earlier conversation and said, “Either you pay the $100 or get out.” After traveling eight hours from home, I paid. When I raised concerns about the people in the parking lot, she told me, “that is not my problem,” and said we could leave if we felt unsafe. I was shocked by how this DoubleTree employee spoke to me. I usually stay at DoubleTree wherever I go and have never been treated this way. It was a horrible experience, and I wouldn’t recommend this location. Be aware your car could be broken into, and you may end up paying more than you expected.

My friends and I liked this hotel for our one-night stay. The room was clean and organized, though one room was too dark even with all the lights on while we were getting ready for an event. The front desk staff were all nice and helpful. It seems good for a short vacation or any brief stay. 👍🏻
