Mama Shelter Los Angeles

This rooftop is a must when you’re in LA. We had a great time hanging out with friends, with the Hollywood sign behind us. The food and drinks were good, and the atmosphere was really fun. 🌴🍹🌆

I stayed at Mama's for three nights while I was in town for a concert. The reviews had left me struggling to picture the place, but once I arrived, it all made sense. The setup is quirky: there’s a restaurant on one side, a bar on the other, and the front desk just beyond the giant Foosball table. The rooms are on the small side, though clean and laid out well. The sheets were high quality and the bed was comfortable. The rooftop bar is great, but it can get crowded. On weekends it’s basically an open-air club with a good DJ. They repeatedly advertise X-rated channels, which I’ve decided is basically just a filter. The vibe is inclusive and adult without being creepy, though it’s simply not ideal for kids. I’d definitely stay here again.

The music and DJ were spot on, and the drinks were really well made. I had an amazing time with drinks and dancing on Mama’s Shelter rooftop. It gets crowded on weekends, so the service can feel a little overwhelmed, but the decor, atmosphere, and views are great. I can’t wait to come back and try the food next time!

The hotel is easy to miss since it’s kind of tucked away, but the valet was kind and I have no complaints. Staff were pretty nice, including the cleaning staff and the bar lady downstairs. Security kept mistaking my friend and me for people who were just coming to the roof throughout our stay.
