Orange Drive Hostel

I was quite pleased with my stay at this hostel. It's basic, clean accommodation close to transit, right off the Hollywood Walk. The common areas could use some thought: the dining area could be brighter and better laid out, and the former smoking area out front still looks like one. I'd also have liked a little more shared space. There's no grocery store right nearby, though one is within walking distance. I found myself getting annoyed walking behind people who weren't paying attention. Even with those drawbacks, I was very pleased overall.

It felt special to stay in such a cozy, authentic American house, and we could see the Magic Castle from our window. The price was far more competitive than other places, and the location couldn't be better, only a 3-minute walk from the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The bald guy who helped us was amazing, though I can't remember his name. He was so kind and helpful, and even showed me how to use the hostel's old vintage phone. I got to make a free call, which turned into a fun little experience. I hope he gets to visit the Magic Castle someday, and wish him all the best. It was the best stay we could have imagined.

The staff were courteous and ready to help, and there's a kitchen if you'd like to cook. It's close to the Walk of Fame but far enough away to feel quiet and safe. One of the cleanest and nicest hostels I've stayed in.

For a budget stay, the location is the main draw and a big reason I'd recommend it. The price is hard to beat for the area. Rooms only have the basics, but there's a fridge, free wifi, and parking available. Bathrooms are cleaned regularly.
