We were really comfortable here. The bed was extremely cozy, the room was spotless, and touches like the robes and shared kitchen made it easy to settle in. We could even keep restaurant leftovers in the fridge. The decor throughout the building and rooms is cute and distinctive. Although the bathroom is shared, it felt like we were the only guests around. Communication from the property was great, too. We stayed on a Friday night a weekend or so ago, and the location made it easy to enjoy Los Feliz and get to the 101. I grew up in Los Angeles and usually stay with my mom on the west side when I'm in town, but I've always liked this area and its vibe. Parking was easy enough to find a block away, even during Friday rush hour, and easier still when we returned around 9 or 10 p.m., so parking shouldn't put you off. The one annoyance was the bathroom faucet. It's motion activated and very sensitive, and the water pressure is strong when it turns on. It could use a less sensitive setting or lower pressure. A friend from the area came back with us and thought the property was unique and great. We'd stay again.

They canceled my booking a day before I was due to arrive, saying they'd double booked it. I'd already made plans in the area, and they offered no help or concern. This was in late April. Whoever decided to cancel my reservation two days after I made it, with check-in only a day away, has some bad karma coming. I wish you the best, but maybe book somewhere else, or consider a lawsuit if this happens to you.

Just so people know what they're booking, this is a hostel, not a hotel. The listing left us feeling misled, even though the woman I spoke with on the phone was very kind. We knew there wouldn't be staff on site, and the bathrooms and showers are shared. If you want a budget option and can manage roughing it, it might work. If you're expecting hotel comfort, this really isn't the place.

Street parking was fine, and the rest of the stay was good. The shower didn't get as hot as I wanted, though, and the WiFi was so slow I had to work off my phone's hotspot. I stayed in the separate studio, so that may have made a difference.

I've stayed in hotels around the world, including hotel negresco Nice, France and Burj Al Arab in dubai, but the Rosemary Hotel is hard to put into words. It felt like a painting, a deeply profound memory. I stood barefoot as if before God, in such complete bliss that language gave way to silent prayer. At last, I felt at peace with my maker. Thank you to the rosemary hotel.
