Value Inn Hollywood

I travel on a budget a lot, and this ranks among the worst places I’ve stayed. I’ve dealt with cockroaches in China and more than a dozen bedbug bites at another hotel, but this one was worse for filth, staff behavior, and parking. The savings aren’t worth it. There was a trail of poop beside the toilet when we checked in. We reported it to the office, and they said it would be cleaned in the morning. The next evening it was still there, and the office worker said nothing could be done because the maids weren’t there. The windows also had black mold and dead flies, and the sheets were stained. At checkout we reminded them about the toilet. The worker said we should have reported it when we arrived, even though we had, blamed the maids, said they weren’t the manager and couldn’t do anything, then walked away without an apology. We also asked for an extra blanket because it was December and the bed only had a flat sheet and thin fleece blanket, no comforter or anything warm. They had no extra blanket available early that evening. Parking is short for the number of rooms, so guests leave cars along the wall behind other parked cars. When we needed to leave at 8 am, a worker had to wake several guests to move their vehicles so we could back out.

The room and parking lot felt cramped, though everything was clean. Check-in is at 2 pm. I tried calling to confirm, but nobody answered. One weekend night was pretty pricey, but the location probably explains it. Not the best, not the worst.

Fine for a short stay. The rooms only come with a fridge and TV, and parking can be a problem if you get there late at night. There’s a great taco place outside the accommodation.

I don’t usually leave comments, but this room smelled really nice, was very clean, and had new furniture. It didn’t smell like weed the way other hotels have. The woman at reception was a big help too. When we asked her for an address, she even called someone to find it for us.
