Brittany Floyd from the front office followed up quickly after I filled out the hotel's survey. She apologized, seemed concerned, and handled my request to remove a $250 charge and restore the Bonvoy points I had used to book the room. Both were taken care of within 24 hours, and she checked in by email afterward. She invited me to contact her directly if I came back to town so she could make sure I was looked after. I believe she meant that. She was professional and responsive, and her follow-through might be enough for me to try the hotel again. The stay itself was a mess. We arrived late, around 9:30 p.m., after having booked a month ahead, but the hotel was full for a local convention and they said ours was the last room. It smelled like old wet laundry. My wife and I asked the desk for another room and were told there weren't any. Back in the room, she spotted a large brown stain on a bed cover. I didn't want to guess what it was, so we went back and said we were leaving. The attendant just said, "Okay." I had booked with Bonvoy points and hadn't paid anything, but a $250 charge appeared on my card the next day. I waited until I got home to respond to the hotel's survey, which wasn't favorable.

I've stayed at Marriott hotels for years and have lifetime Titanium Elite status, and I've never had this kind of experience at one. I thought the recent facelift might have improved this place since my last stay. There were nasty bugs crawling on the walls and a tangerine on the floor beside the bed. The TV remotes didn't work. I killed the bugs and tossed the old fruit, figuring those things weren't the end of the world. I called the front desk about them and asked for help with the remotes. The woman said someone would come right down, so I got out of bed and waited 22 minutes. When I called again, she curtly said he was coming but had to go to another room first. I shook my head and asked her to cancel it. Problems happen, but the way they handled this was the issue. I'd think twice before booking this Marriott.

Dear Management, The room I was given smelled strongly of paint, and it wasn't comfortable to stay in. The door lock also gave me trouble, and neither the heat nor the air conditioning worked properly, so I was hot. I had to leave the patio door cracked to air the room out. I was told I'd get points for staying in a renovated room that wasn't ready, but they still haven't appeared in my account. When I mentioned the problems to the construction team, they were surprised I'd been assigned that room because they thought it wasn't ready for guests. As someone who stays at Courtyards often, I was disappointed. I was also the only guest on my floor, and the experience fell short of the standards I expect. Sincerely
Molly F.
We didn't get checked in until 3 a.m., and the staff offered us noon checkout instead of 11 so we could catch up on sleep. They were amazing and really accommodating. The rooms were super clean, and the hotel smelled like cleaning products as soon as you walked in. The decor is a bit dated, but it wasn't too bad.

The Bistro was just okay. I think the fast food places nearby would have been a better choice. Also, the front entrance was being renovated, and at night I had a hard time spotting the sign that redirected guests. This was my first time in Kentucky, on a work trip for a few days. My flight was delayed, so I got in close to midnight. Mason checked me in fast and moved me to a quieter room. I ran into him at the desk a few times when I had questions, and I appreciated how consistently helpful he was. The room was a little nicer than I expected. The bed was comfortable, and having a desk was useful when I needed to work from the hotel. I didn't notice any USB ports, though I usually use a regular plug anyway. It was a nice stay for work.
